Save your local ITG Machines!

As of my arrival to the AMOA Vegas 2007 show, I was notified that Betson Enterprises now offers a “Conversion Kit” for all “In The Groove machines.” This upgrade retails for ~$4200.00 usd and converts all ITG cabinets into Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA.
BEWARE of these kits. Even after the death of the In The Groove series: the ITG spirit continues to live on through it’s established player communities all over the world. Betson/Konami will never change that!
(revised wording)
Make Pump Pro the best game it can possibly be. Do a ton of marketing, get word of mouth going. Make it attractive to have one, price-wise. Urge people to ask for it. If it works, get home versions going. Make this a huge franchise. If Pump gains popularity and DDR loses popularity to the point where it becomes unprofitable, we’ll have our revenge.
Hypocrites…
Konami needs to die… Pump Pro is exactly what we need.
I await the home version kyle!
since the ITG2 dedicated cabinet hardware is not the same as that of a DDR machine, it would not be a simple plug-and-play operation and i find it unlikely that Betson would manufacture two different kinds of kits, especially considering the comparatively low number of dedicated cabinets and the even lower number of arcade managers who would even understand what the point was.
on a separate note, you guys are… huge fanboys who make the community look bad. you know that, right?
Thank you to everyone for the words & concerns. Regardless of what game(s) you are playing now, I urge you to continue to do so with an open mind. Move on and enjoy.
Keep on gr00ve’n!
but its still kinda sad, because im worried about my local ITG2 Cab
The mall is still under renovation.
I wonder if this means that the owners will convert it to a DDR Supernova….
Would be a terrible blow to me, since I’d have to go downtown to get to Funland Arcade for ITG2, unless all of Toronto’s converting…
I’ll blame our mayor David Miller for this.
I hope Konami didn’t take any part into the Betson Enterprises offerings.
I love both of the games pretty equally (actually if somebody made me choose inbetween which one to play my brain would explode) so I don’t really mind too much. In The Groove dedicabs didn’t really make it to Australia much anyway.
Also -apparently- Konami wasn’t even involved in this convertion kit at all, so who knows what will happen. Maybe they will sue Betson Enterprises for it
Oh well. On the ITG side of things I am really looking forward to PIU Pro. I’ve always disliked the normal PIU games because of their bad cabinets and songs.etc, but when saw this one and found out that most of Kyle’s songs are in it, I was straight interested. Who knows, I might be one of millions to fall into 5 panel dancing simulation games.
As long as people continue to have options with their gameplay, that’ll be fine in my book!
How much do Conversion kits to turn a machine into ITG2 cost these days? I assume they’re probably pretty rare, huh?
Otherwise, the post says it will cost $4 200 U.S. for a conversion.
The only conversion which is needed for DDR machines in Toronto are 2 places, which have really old machines.
Pretty much here’s how I see it.
ITG Step Artists – Frequent players of the game that constantly tweak and play their own files to see what’s fun and what’s not.
DDR Step Artists – Fat. Sit around. Tada.
So, just relax and watch the fun.
PS. Yes I’m a DDR fanboy, but Kyle Ward is my idol! I know weird combination but it’s true.
tl;dr: Bring back ITG! ;_;
I was thinking, since the cabinets were produced by Andamiro, couldn’t AM sue Konami? I guess not because they dont acctually modify the cabinet in any way, just the hardware inside it. Could I get anyone elses opinions on this please? I thought it may work but now I doubt it since AM would have sued earlier if this was the case.
There is ones for ITG on DDR machines but not for ITG Machines, I never seen one or heard of a kit in sale.
It seems that Betson quickly pulled this kit after it was announced… I’m not sure why they did, but it seems you are correct that it was never released after the show.
At the time of this release/post, it was understood that it upgraded “All forms of the In The Groove Systems”
Luckily, it seems to have never found it’s way to the market place!
The only thing that will kill ITG would be the death of the community, and even with some of the crap that happen, it’s still kicking so there is no worries. Plus there is IDance coming and that’s pretty close to ITG, hell it may be even better than ITG.
However I do admit however I am abit worried about the new DDR X game however due to it’s new PC based hardware, the “DDR on ITG Cab” scare can still be real, however there is no news on this yet so there is no need to panic. Plus I don’t think it can happen still.
